Kinsol Trestle
The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestles in the world. It is one of the few accessible and visible reminders of the early mining and logging industries on Vancouver Island, as well as offering spectacular views of the Koksilah River and trails for hiking, running, cycling and riding. 30 years after the last train crossed the Kinsol Trestle, a $2 million dollar fundraising campaign has been launched to rehabilitate the trestle to its former glory and close the last link in the Cowichan Valley portion of the Trans Canada Trail. Christ Church Cathedral
This magnificent gothic structure was built in 1929 with towers rising 122 feet above the street level. Visitors are welcome to take Self-Guided Tours of the Cathedral between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 PM on Sundays. Fort Rodd Hill-Fisgard Lighthouse
National Historic Site - is a coast artillery fort built in the late 1890s to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. The Fort includes three gun batteries, underground magazines, command posts, guardhouses, barracks and searchlight emplacements. There are numerous interpretive signs and audiovisual stations, as well as period furnished rooms and friendly, knowledgeable staff.
