Linny D. Vine Canadian West Coast artist Linny D. Vine finds inspiration for her vibrant acrylic paintings in the natural beauty of Southern Vancouver Island and Victoria's beautiful gardens and urban scenery. Bold and colourful originals. Landscapes, urbanscapes and florals.

Brian Simons A self-taught artist who has been painting for about 25 years. He paints in bold, colourful fashion in both acrylics and oils. He paints in a more expressionist style without the use of fine detail. His numerous works include landscapes, figures, portraits, floral, cityscapes and marine paintings.

Jeffrey J. Boron Canadian west-coast artist living and working in Victoria BC. Vibrant and colourful acrylic on canvas landscapes and marine paintings in a representational style. Broad variety of subject matter and perspectives.

Laurie Ladmore Laurie Ladmore lives in Victoria, BC where she attended the Victoria College of Art from 1994 to 1996. She works in acrylic and oil with two main areas of focus: landscape/growing things and abstracts.

Frank A. Waits With an eclectic body of work including animated-realism photography, wooden and cement sculptures with optical elements and acrylic canvas paintings, this color blind artist delves into whatever inspires him to create bold artwork.

Julie Cooper Young A self-taught, local artist who has become known for her urban idealism (architecture) acrylic paintings and insightful visual commentaries on the triumphs and trials of being human.

Trish Smith Although Inspired by the realist painters, especially, Andrew Wyeth, Alex Collvile and Salvador Dali. My early paintings bear the signature Pat Thompson. Later I changed back to my maiden name, Trish Smith. Most of my early paintings were done in oil. I tried acrylics, liked them, and since 2000, that is my medium of choice.

Deryk Houston My work is about things fertile, children's rights and peace. I enjoy working on canvas with acrylic paints as well as in three dimentional form with mixed media. I have mounted one man exhibitions in the former Soviet Union, Scotland, Iraq and the USA. The National film board of Canada produced a documentary film on my work titled "From Baghdad to Peace Country".

Margaret Foreman Although Margaret Foreman has had no formal art training, she took up painting with the same passion that has become a trademark of her life. Margaret’s enthusiasm and joie de vivre are evident in acrylic paintings that reflect a unique impressionistic style and convey a feeling of warmth through the use of vibrant colours.

Paintings Oil

Sarah Theophilus A welsh born realist painter specializing in finely detailed oil pastel animal portraiture. For me, the focus of each work is the eye, and the story an animal can convey in a simple expression without saying a word. My joy is in the challenge of capturing that spirit and communication, and the soft touch of fur on a flat canvas.
Paintings

David Ladmore Born and raised in England, David is an award-winning artist who works in the classical tradition. "My work is a response to the beauty and simplicity of the things I find around me. In figure and landscape, careful study reveals the undercurrents and rhythms of existence. It is an irresistible force."
Drawings

Nel Maria Kwiatkowska Born in Poland her formal education consists of studies at the Warsaw University, Dept. of Architecture training in pencil and ink drawing eceived under the established polish architect Tomasz Plucinski. Nel works in diverse media and techniques. The favorite themes of her work are people, landscapes, architecture and animals.

Mixed Media

James Nesbitt His mixed media paintings on a multitude of surfaces embrace the narrative, for within story the situations that reveal love can form and evolve with depth and truthfulness.  His work shows us that even in the most intense struggles of the journey there is a beauty and that in the coldest darkness there is a flicker of light.

Alexandra Hunter explores mixed media abstract art in her kitchen studio in Victoria, BC. Vibrant, energetic and colourful, her work glows with iridescent metals, copper and gold leaf. A lover of texture, she likes to throw, drip, scrape and splatter the acrylic paint (and sometimes uses her fingers!). Her latest pieces are "painting poems" layered with poetry and scripture.
Pottery

Tobias Tomlinson Tobias Tomlinson has been a working potter for 35 years. Fire and ash of traditional Japanese firing techniques have brought new inspiration to his work. His translucent porcelain glows from within. Other inspirations include Mission Style and Arts and Crafts tradition from 1900 to 1925. The carved designs are reminiscent of William Morris, and the Newcomb Pottery in New Orleans. (no web site link)

Ceramics

Gera Scott Chandler, Amused Creations, 250-595-2559,
E-mail: amusedcreations@shaw.ca
Gera Scott Chandler has been an artist for as long as she can remember. After a rewarding teaching career, she decided to rediscover her own creative processes and began studies in ceramics at Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Her formal studies paused when she had her children but the internet gave her a chance to branch out to other mediums and to meet other artists both online and at conferences and workshops in Canada and the United States. These explorations led her to experiment with polymer clay which has proven to be the perfect foundation medium for her approach. Each of Gera's creations have stories to tell of imaginary worlds and engaging characters and celebrate the beauty, colour and texture of the West Coast environment.

Jewellery

Ulrieke Benner, 142 Richard Flack Road, Salt Spring Island, BC
V8K 1N4, E-mail: ulrieke@saltspring.com
Ulrieke Benner derives her inspiration from the natural environment around her on Salt Spring Island.
In her textile art, her explosive use of colour reflects her sense of playfulness and exuberance. Her textile paintings combine a variety of techniques; including applique, stitching, beads, and embroidery. She combines dyed and painted silk with other fibres, creating textile paintings which she describes as "contemplative". Her abstract, and vibrantly coloured artwork enables each viewer to bring his or her own experiences into the piece and leaves it open to his/her own interpretation.
