Tofino
is approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes from Nanaimo and approximately
5 hours from Victoria BC.From Nanaimo it is 206 km (128 miles)
to Tofino and just 2 hours and 45 minutes to Ucluelet (180 km,
112 miles). Tofino is just north of the spectacular Long Beach on a narrow peninsula jutting into the deep blue sea. Long Beach
is in Canada's premiere National Park, the Pacific Rim National
Park. Tofino is situated in an area of breath-taking beauty, truly

has grown into a popular tourist destination with accommodations
such as oceanfront resorts, hotels, motels and lodges, and bed
and breakfast homes. There are many excellent restaurants, pubs
and cafes. You can also enjoy browsing in art galleries and gift
shops featuring. The area is renown for whale watching as Pacific
Gray Whales pass through the area in the spring and fall. The large rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean provide British Columbia's best sea kayaking and surfing. Miles of pristine beaches within Pacific Rim Park, just south of Tofino, provide hours of tranquility and beach-combing for treasures washed up on shore. Ucluelet, the other town in this area is nestled in a small harbour south of the park area. Walking and hiking trails include small beaches. Hi-Tin-Kis park, provides visitors some of the most spectacular views. The Broken Group Island area of Pacific Rim Park is situated south of Ucluelet in the entrance to Barclay Sound. Renowned for its salt water fishing, ocean kayaking and scuba diving, the area is rich in marine life, sandy beaches, tucked away coves and incredible scenery. The Broken Group is accessible only by boat. Guided tours are available from Tofino, Ucluelet and Bamfield. The world-famous West Coast Trail gives hikers the opportunity to experience pure wilderness in a hike that takes between 5 to 7 days. The trail is 77 km (48 miles) long. Trail permits are required. Meares Island is the location of some very old growth trees. Boat tours to Meares Island are available from Tofino. These giant trees are well worth the visit. It is just a short hike through the forest to these mamoth trees. As
you can see adventure abounds.
