The Royal British Columbia Museum
Located in downtown Victoria on the Inner Harbour

The Royal British Columbia Museum is located just across the road from Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour. It is also home to the National Geographic IMAX theatre. When you are in town make sure that you leave enough time to enjoy the museum and the imax. You get a deal when you buy tickets for both venues. The Museum has some spectacular displays. They are so real you feel like you are actually there, like standing next to the extinct wooly mammoth, or in the forest with dear or bear, or under the sea, or in a native village. Check it out and learn all about life in British Columbia.

The Museum has incredible displays. There is a giant screen in the lobby where you can learn all about BC, without even visiting the museum upstairs. The museum has an incredible gift shop and a good food service. You will learn about the history of BC and all the wild life throughout the province.

It is quite incredible and certainly a world-class attraction. From time to time, the museum brings in incredible shows. The Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit and Genghis Khan exhibit were two of the more spectacular ones brought in for temporary shows.

The Royal BC Museum showcases the human and natural history of British Columbia. Authentic artifacts and specimens are displayed in very real looking settings. You will feel like you are in another place and time as you wander through the museum. Three of the permanent displays are the First Peoples Gallery highlighting local native life and culture before and after the arrival of Europeans, the Modern History Gallery which exhibits the sounds and sights of BC past, and the Natural History Exhibit that gives you glimpses of our BC environment and wildlife.

The National Geographic IMAX theatre is a delight to behold. All of the films I have seen there are excellent. Most shows are 45-50 minutes in length and the quality is exceptionally high. The screen is immense and the visual experience is stunning. Be sure to build at least one of these shows into your visit.
