Spring Island Temperature
Temperature:
Highest year round temperatures in Canada are recorded on Saltspring
Island. Saltspring Island has a cool Mediterranean climate with
four distinct seasons. Due to topography, the climate varies
throughout the island. Generally poinst of land nearest to the
ocean are the mildest due to the moderating effect of the water.
Vesuvius is one of the mildest climates because of the warmer
waters on the west side of the island. Maracibo, Scott Point,
Old Scott Road, and the very north end of Saltspring Island
is heavily influenced by these moderating effects.

THE
SALT SPRING MARKET IN GANGES
SALT
SPRING ISLAND BEACH GUIDE
The
outdoor market is a prime reason people choose Saltspring Island
as a destination - and one of the reasons visitors keep returning.
The "Market in the Park" takes place every Saturday
from April to October, 8:00 am to 4pm - rain or shine in Centennial
Park, at the heart of Ganges. Since its origins many years ago
as a local Gulf Island farmer's market, the Salt Spring Saturday
Market has grown to near bursting capacity. There is something
here for everyone; the market is filled with the colors and
flavors of more than 100 vendors of all types and ages. Many
of the same who contribute towards Salt Spring's international
reputation in the arts world - for being home to the greatest
collection of artists in Canada. The bulk of the market is comprised
of local artists, farmers and food vendors who have all made
it, baked it or grown it themselves. This simple policy requirement
is the essence of the market. Visitors are treated to local
food, music and crafts, stemming from Salt Spring's unique brand
of island ingenuity. Virtual visitors can experience the market
by exploring these pages. While most market vendors are listed
here, you will find only few have web sites or email. As more
artists and farmers get on-line, we will link them to these
pages. This site is growing daily. We invite you to return often.
