SAILING AND BOATING

Sailing & Boating around Victoria is an experience you will not likely forget. Exceptional scenery, secret coves to rest at, plenty of marinas and marine parks, whales, porpoises, seals, sealion, eagles, and more. The Victoria area offers rentals, lessons, charters and some of the friendliest people on the water. There are a number of special sailing events during the year, such as the Swiftsure where over 400 sailboats compete in a variety of races. Many boat charters are for the purposes of sport fishing. Sport fishing is great around Victoria.

Built in Victoria BC in 1978 by the present day owner, THANE is a 17m (55') OA gaff rigged ketch.  She is fashioned out of recycled materials salvaged from industrial sites and character buildings. Heavily framed and planked in yellow cedar, she is modeled after Joshua Slocum's SPRAY, the first vessel to circumnavigate single-handed in 1895. Thane is Transport Canada approved to carry up 18 passengers.
