This is a commission sales job. There is no hourly wage. You get paid when you get clients signed up. If you are comfortable with this arrangement, then read on. There will be a lag time between when you start this job and when you get your first paycheck. That could be a month or more, depending on how hard you work and how good you are. If you can deal with that, read on.
Sales can take up to five contacts to make a sale.
Our recommendation is this:
1. Contact a prospective client and ask if you can mail them a promotional package. (phone call)
2. Within a few days of mailing the package, call back and ask if they go the package. Ask if they are interested in listing their business with Vanisle Tourism. Be prepared to answer any and all questions, like "Why should I sign up?"(phone call)
3. If they said they need time to check it out, ask if it is OK for you to check back in a few days. Then wait a few days and then call again (phone call)
4. If you have any trouble contacting them by phone, then consider sending an email reminder?
5. Last shot, send an email and ask if there is anything you can do to convince them to advertise with Vanisle Tourism?
It is very important that you do not contact more potential clients than you can manage. Follow-up is the key. If you don't get back to them you will lose your efforts? Phone is much better than email. Occassionally, if it is easy for you, personal contact is even better. That choice is yours. Vanisle Tourism will provide you with all the printed material that you need. We will also get you business cards. We will pay for all your business related long distance charges. You will get a commission of 50% and a residual income of 25% year after year, as long as you stay working for Vanisle Tourism. I am considering selling the business in 5 years. I am looking for someone who will work to develop the business through sales and then in five years, purchase the business. I will make it very easy for you to purchase the business through monthly payments, if you are chosen and you can help develop the business through sales. I will teach you everything you need to know to run the business during the next five years. First, you have to prove you can sell. The business cannot survive without sales.
How we will do business:
1. You will get a list from us of all current clients so you do not contact them again and then build a list of contacts that you will be contacting. You will be given a standard operating procedure that starts with a phone call and then a mail out. We provide the mailout. Your first task is to build a possible contact list. We suggest that you start with bed and breakfast accommodations and use other local directories to build your list. We need someone who has the resourcefulness to find businesses not listed on our web site. Is that you?
2. Using the internet and other resources, find businesses that have
E-mail and/or businesses that are listed somewhere on the Internet (you
can find these at competitor listings, local directories, tourism listings,
internet service provider listings, etc.). There is no
end to the number of Greater Victoria & Gulf Island tourism
business you can contact to encourage listing with the our web site.
3. Use our standard operating procedure and keep a record of your contacts. These will be shared with our staff so we do not trip over each others efforts. You will need to keep an alphabetical list of the people you contact and we will provide you with a form to use to keep track of your contacts. Microsoft excel works well for maintaining this list.
4.When they sign
up, you get paid. When we send an email to the customer confirming that their listing is posted, you will get copied to let you know that it is time to put that client on your monthly invoice to our office for payment.
For each listing that signs up, you will get 50% of the listing fee. How much time do you think it will take to sign up one client. 20 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour?
This position is ideally suited for individuals living in Greater Victoria
and working from home. Excellent commissions on affordable tourism
business advertising. I will establish new rates for clients and give you some freedom to play with the rates. This will be discussed with you, depending on the nature of the client's business. Our basic current liksting rate is $90 per year plus GST for 24/7, 365 days a year advertising that reaches an audience of 300,000 visitors (last years total traffic).

The gets an average of over 800 or more visitors a day with around 300,000
unique visitors annually. How could any business turn down such a great

A person who can work independently and who can follow instructions and procedures. I am looking for someone who can hit the ground running so during the interview I will be looking for someone who is ready to go. Is that you? Do you have a computer that is set up and ready to go? Are you linked to the Internet? Which browser(s) do you use to search the Internet?
I also need someone who can keep good records and will communicate when they have problems or questions. Is that you?
It is important to realize that there will be a lag time between when you start this business and when you get your first cheque. If you are really good, I can pay you twice monthly. If you are slower then you will only get paid once per month to avoid unnecessary paperwork. I would be happy to pay you weekly if your sales require it. Just be prepared for this lag, especially during your first month.
