Why go to the Oceanside?
Beaches, beaches and more beaches. When the tide is low you can walk forever on the East Island's biggest beaches. Rathtrevor Provincial Park has hiking trails and beach walks that just don't quit. Parksville is home to one of the most spectacular 36 hole miniature golf courses in Canada. A mild climate, sandy beaches and full service resorts - it just doesn't get better! Culture and arts are abundant in this area. Golf courses are everywhere.
Swim in Englishman River another spectacular Provincial campground or visit the beautiful Milner Gardens and Woodland. Visit Coombs famous for the goats that live on the grass roof of a great little market. Just past Coombs in Butterfly World featuring a walk among hundreds of exotic butterflys in a tropical atrium and bird aviary. Also in this area is the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre where sick, injured and orphaned wildlife are nursed to health. Visit the caves at Horne Lake or the Big Qualicum Fish Hatchery where you can see spawning salmon.Ferry out to Lesqueti Island. Be sure to spend some time in this area, you will be glad you did.
